Join the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust to celebrate the start of the planting season with a morning of planting trees and giving back to habitats at Lake Sammamish State Park!
This year, you’ll help us complete our goal of planting 10,000 trees and shrubs along Issaquah Creek! Your efforts will build on over 20 years of habitat restoration and make a difference by restoring healthy urban forests to support wildlife habitats, create cooler water for salmon, and improve air and water quality.
This event is open to all ages and great for families, individuals, groups, and work teams, so bring your friends and family to join this fun and meaningful event. Together, we can create healthier habitats and communities!
What to Expect:
Please meet at the ParQ Parking complex near the Issaquah FedEx Ship Center. Once you arrive, follow the Greenway Trust signs directing you to the event site!
- 9:00 am-12:00 pm | Tree Planting Volunteer Work Party
- 12 pm-1 pm | Lunch and celebratory remarks
No experience is necessary—all tools, instructions, and lunch will be provided!
Please note: the planting site is only accessible by stairway, since the bridge over Issaquah Creek is closed for safety reasons. The stairs are about 1.5 flights, and there are no nearby ways to get around.

Don’t forget to bring your Greenway Volunteer Passport to receive your Tree Planting Celebration stamp! If you’ve collected 5 or 10 stamps in your passport, you can also redeem them for special rewards at this event by visiting our outreach table.
More Trees, Please!
Did you know there are many ways that trees benefit wildlife, salmon, and people? Planting trees helps create healthier communities by:
- Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gases
- Shading creeks and streams
- Cooling water temperatures for salmon
- Reducing erosion
- Providing important habitats for native plants and wildlife
By volunteering, you are supporting the continued transformation of Issaquah Creek and the work of staff, partners, and thousands of volunteers who have helped us improve this important salmon habitat.

Additional Event Information
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Age Restriction: Open to all ages. Participants under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
What to Bring:
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
- Gloves (provided)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers or sun protection, depending on the weather
- Rain gear
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for snacks, extra layers, etc…
- Lawn chair for the celebration following the event
