Additional Information

In March 2019, Congress designated the Mountains to Sound Greenway as a National Heritage Area (NHA). NHAs are places where historic, cultural, and natural resources combine to form cohesive, nationally important landscapes. NHAs promote an integrated and cooperative approach for protecting, enhancing, and interpreting the natural, cultural, historic, scenic, and recreational resources of the NHA while upholding tribal rights and protecting private property rights.

Appointed as the Greenway NHA’s Coordinating Entity, the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust is responsible for increasing public awareness, protecting resources, building partnerships, and developing recreational and educational opportunities. With nearly 35 years of experience, the Greenway Trust is committed to continuing its work and welcoming a broader community of partners and members of the public to participate in the Greenway NHA.
