Event Overview

Join Greenway Trust Education & Volunteer Senior Manager Becca Kedenburg for a hands-on nature experience designed especially for kids and families. Set in the beautiful Camp Brown Day Use Area, this outing invites young explorers to slow down, look closely, and discover the natural world all around them. Whether it’s your child’s first nature walk or your family already loves the outdoors, this experience is a great chance to make lasting memories together in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Valley.

What to Expect:

  • A nature-themed scavenger hunt around the ½ mile loop trail
  • Time by the river where kids can either explore freely or participate in a mini science lesson where they will test the water and learn about what makes a river healthy for fish and other wildlife
  • Optional: bring a packed lunch to picnic together by the river, or hike back to the trailhead

This experience will help youth build a sense of curiosity, responsibility, and care for the environment. Parents and caregivers will enjoy the setting just as much, with towering trees, river access, and scenic mountain views providing a beautiful backdrop.

This event is a perfect opportunity to learn and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts, while also fostering a deeper connection to our environment. Participants will learn about the vital work of a local environmental nonprofit, the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, and discover how you can play a role in preserving and protecting our cherished natural spaces.

The Greenway Trust designed and built the Camp Brown Trail in partnership with the US Forest Service, Northwest Trails, and McClung Construction from 2019-2020. It’s a beautiful trail for all ages and abilities – come see it for yourself!
