Tree Potting at our Native Plant Nursery for MLK Day
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes
- Gloves (bring your own if possible, we will provide a limited number)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
Join thousands of volunteers nationwide in making MLK Day a "day on, not a day off". We will be celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day by showing some love to our nursery.
The Greenway Native Plant Nursery is home to nearly 15,000 native trees and shrubs. The trees and shrubs at the nursery are potted by volunteers and will grow for 1-2 years before being planted in parks and forests along I-90. These trees and shrubs are an important part of keeping our natural areas healthy and potting these plants is the first step in restoring the areas.
