Tree Planting at Lake Sammamish State Park
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes that can get dirty (absolutely no sandals)
- Gloves (provided)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc…
Join the Greenway Trust as we partner with Washington State Parks to restore the wetland habitat along the Lake Sammamish shoreline. Sunset Beach offers access to thousands of visitors each year as well as habitat for a wide variety of wildlife including migratory birds. Over the past year, State Parks has been working to improve visitor facilities at the park including the quality of the Sunset Beach swimming area. With improved public access, there is an opportunity to restore historic wetlands along the lakeshore. Volunteers will play a crucial role in this restoration effort by installing thousands of native wetland plant species.
