Teanaway Guard Station
Event Overview

Join the Mountains to Sound Greenway and the USFS to celebrate National Public Lands Day with service! The Teanaway Guard Station was constructed in 1950 by a miner, then passed into the hands of the Forest Service to be used as a fire guard station in 1978. Now this historical building can be rented for overnight use. Park at the dispersed sites across the road from the Guard Station and meet your site lead in front of the building. Your project will be cleaning up trash in the area, trimming back brush, and weeding around the station. Gloves, trash bags, and brush cutters will be provided.

Difficulty
Easy to Moderate. Depending on your comfortability, you can engage in weeding, which involves some bending, but there are a range of activities to choose from.
What to Bring

Wear clothes and shoes that you're comfortable walking and bending in. Bring water and snacks. The event ends at 1, and the drive out of the forest is almost an hour, so snacks are highly recommended.

Wear long pants, close toed shoes, and weather-appropriate layers.
