Event Overview
Express your love for the Teanaway Community Forest through a day of service hosted by the WA Department of Natural Resources! Join us, your fellow community members, The Nature Conservancy, Washington Trails Association, the WA Department of Fish and Wildlife and more for a jam-packed volunteer event followed by a celebratory BBQ and tour of restoration projects. There's loads to do and a job for every skill level. Choose your activity from the list below, and come out to the Teanaway Community Forest on June 23rd! Please note that participation in each activity is limited and will fill on a first-registered-first-served basis. If you are not able to sign up for one task, please choose another option:

Campsite Cleanup Help get the Teanaway Campsites back in shape as the forest heads into its busiest season! Volunteers will be stationed at 29 Pines, Indian Camp and the Westfork Teanaway Campground to pick up trash, dig out fire circles and repair picnic tables. Tools and workgloves will be provided.

Compost Bin Construction Help horseback riders by building a bin for equine waste. Materials, tools and construction oversight will be provided, but volunteers are needed to assemble this amenity.

Invasive Weed Removal Help keep invasive weeds under control. Join staff from the Kittitas County Noxious Weed Control Board for an identification lesson followed by hand-pulling weeds from Teanaway meadows. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Graffiti Cleanup Keep Cheese Rock free of graffiti! Hike to Cheese Rock along with the trail construction crew, and remove graffiti from the rock formation.

Event Support Crew Assist Teanaway Community Forest Advisory Committee members with event duties such as set up, volunteer check in, cleanup and breakdown. Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts, from 9am-Noon, or Noon-2pm.

Cheese Rock Trail Construction

 Help create a new and more sustainable route to Cheese Rock, overlooking the West Fork Campground. Volunteers will help cut new trail, retread existing trail, and remove brush and tree limbs. This activity will be physically intensive. Registration is closed for this activity.
