National Public Lands Day 2026 – Little Si Trailhead

Event Overview
Join us in caring for our public lands! This project will focus on removing non-native blackberry encroaching on the Little Si trailhead and connector trail to the overflow lot. This blackberry can crowd out native vegetation, limit habitat for wildlife, and make recreation areas harder to access. By removing encroaching blackberry and other brush, volunteers help restore healthier landscapes while keeping trails, trailheads, and picnic areas open and welcoming for everyone to enjoy.

What to Expect:

We will have fun and work at our own pace during this 3-hour work party. Light-duty tasks will be available, and no prior experience necessary. This project is on flat terrain and requires minimal hiking, as most projects are within a few hundred feet of the trailhead. Projects will involve using loppers and hand pruners to cut back blackberry canes and shovels to dig out blackberry roots.

8:45 to 9:00 AM: Check-in at the Little Si Overflow lot.

9:00 AM: Welcome, safety talks, project overview, and begin work!

12 PM: We will wrap up work in time to walk across the bridge to Tanner Landing for lunch and celebration with volunteers from all six work sites. Please join us!

What to Bring

For safety, volunteers are required to wear:

  • Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
  • Gloves (provided by the Greenway Trust)

In addition, we recommend that participants bring:

  • Warm layers
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain gear
  • Snacks
  • Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
  • Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
Driving Directions

From I-90 East: Take exit 32 off of I-90 East. Turn left onto 436th Ave SE. In 0.6 miles, turn right onto SE North Bend Way. In 0.3 miles, turn right onto Mt Si Rd. In 0.5 miles the Little Si Trailhead and Little Si Trailhead Overflow will be on your left. If the overflow lot is full, parking can also be found across the river at Tanner Landing.

Additional Information

Companion piece to neighbor and big brother Mount Si, the small rocky bluff known as Little Si is accessed via a moderately graded round trip 1.9 mile trail located in the hike-rich North Bend area. Little Si is an important site in the Snoqualmie Tribe’s oral history of the Snoqualmie Valley.
