Tree Potting at our Native Plant Nursery
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes
- Gloves (provided)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
The Greenway Native Plant Nursery is home to nearly 15,000 native trees and shrubs. The trees and shrubs at the nursery are potted by volunteers and will grow for 1-2 years before being planted in parks and forests along I-90. These trees and shrubs are an important part of keeping our natural areas healthy. In doing so, the health of the nursery is equally as important. As volunteers, you will be assisting in organizing and maintaining the nursery for the busy spring season! Tasks may include: bare root tree potting, plant rearrangement, tidying up, replacing weed fabric, and leveling out nursery beds.
