2024 Annual Tree Planting Celebration!
Come plant trees with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust in Issaquah! This year’s Tree Planting Celebration gives volunteers a unique opportunity to learn about in-stream restoration for salmon recovery and see the City of Issaquah’s recently completed Large Woody Material project. As you help plant the final trees of this project, you’ll also gain insight into what’s coming next summer downstream at Lake Sammamish State Park, where the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust will launch its largest restoration project to date, focused on in-stream restoration.
We are aiming to plant roughly 800 trees at the event this year, and volunteers will also be caging conifers and spreading mulch to help these baby trees thrive! The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon and we will have Costco pizza for volunteers.
This event is free to attend, but we welcome donations to support tree planting and care in the Greenway. For every $25 donation, we’ll plant a tree in your name in the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area. PLUS, thanks to Carter Subaru, your impact is doubled—so two trees will be planted! Learn more and donate at mtsgreenway.org/trees.
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
- Gloves (provided)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
- Rain gear
- Snacks
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc…
Please follow parking directions carefully for this event. Carpool if possible as parking is limited. Once you have parked, please look for Greenway staff in orange vests and follow event signs. There will be a 10-15 minute walk to the restoration planting site so please plan ahead for the start time! Upon arriving to the site, please sign in with a Greenway staff member before anything else.
There are TWO parking lots available for use.
