Washington Service Corps Individual Placement Field Associate

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience engaging students and adults of diverse backgrounds both in and out of the classroom.
  • Proven personal initiative and ability to multitask, prioritize, use good judgement, problem solve, and work effectively both independently and as a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Serve in all weather conditions, outside activities include doing physically demanding tasks (ability to hike to semi-remote worksites, carry heavy loads, move materials (plants, tools, rocks), and carry a backpack).
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and detail-oriented organizational skills.
  • Members must be at least 18 years old on first day of service.
  • Ability to acquire, upon sponsorship, a Wilderness First Aid certification (will be provided as part of Greenway Trust training).
  • Must provide personal transportation to sites across King County.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability to drive Greenway Trust vehicles.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
  • Willingness to store teaching some teaching materials at home.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of Pacific Northwest ecosystems, flora and fauna
  • Experience using herbicides to safely control invasive weeds
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

The Field Associates report to the Restoration Projects Coordinator.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

The position is planned to operate on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. Ideally the position is based out of the Greenway Trust’s field office in Issaquah, Washington, with frequent travel to schools in King County, Tiger Mountain and Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, and other locations in the Greenway.

Duration: February 1, 2021 through December 15, 2021.
