RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Restoration Site Maintenance: Develop restoration site maintenance plans, manage on-the-ground ecological restoration maintenance overseeing conservation corps crews, volunteers, and contractors; sustain relationships and communications with land managers
  • Volunteer Supervision & Program Support: Lead weekend and weekday restoration events; work with Greenway staff and agency partners to identify and schedule volunteer events; provide volunteer program support (i.e. data entry, participant outreach, etc.) as needed
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee project site monitoring which includes assessing plant mortality and invasive species cover, establishing and maintaining photo points, tracking habitat-related metrics; and completing project reports
  • Nursery Management: Manage and inventory plant stock, soil, pots and other materials; coordinate annual potting volunteer events to replenish and cultivate nursery stock; operate and repair the nursery irrigation system; oversee nursery maintenance
  • AmeriCorps members: With the Restoration Projects Manager, coordinate, oversee, and supervise AmeriCorps members serving with the Greenway Trust in restoration and volunteer-focused positions
  • Other tasks as assigned

  • Experience leading people to complete projects
  • Experience managing and tracking multiple projects
  • Excellent computer skills as well as experience with data management and reporting
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Physical demands: ability to regularly lift 50 lbs., hike in mountain terrain, and work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate crews and volunteers
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and incorporating perspectives of multiple communities and organizations
  • Current Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder training
  • Current Washington State pesticide applicator’s license (with aquatic endorsement)
  • GIS/GPS experience (including ArcGIS Collector)
  • Bachelor’s degree or several years of experience in a conservation-related field
  • Skilled in safe use, operation, and maintenance of vehicles, hand tools, chainsaws, and brush cutters

 

REPORTS TO | Stewardship Program Manager

 

COMPENSATION

$40,000 to $45,000 annually depending on experience; includes excellent medical, vacation, transit, and retirement benefits.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time, non-exempt position, with an every other week Tuesday-Saturday/Tuesday-Friday schedule, including occasional Sundays and evenings.

 

WORK LOCATION

The primary work location is at the Greenway Trust field office at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, with regular travel to the Greenway Trust office in Seattle, and to sites throughout the Greenway for restoration activities, volunteer events, meetings, presentations, and outdoor events. Transportation from Issaquah to the worksites will be provided through use of Greenway Trust vehicles. Work-related travel in personal vehicle will be eligible for reimbursement at the organization’s mileage rate.
