Get involved. Get outside. Give back.
Join us for a two-week summer internship for Highline Public Schools high school students, with a priority for those who live in Burien. Help restore Salmon Creek Ravine while exploring green careers and earning a stipend. No experience needed — we will provide gloves, tools, and lunch.
WHO: High school students who are at least 16 years old by August 17, 2026 and who live, work, or learn in Burien.
WHEN (2026):
Orientation: August 11
Internship: August 17 – 28, Monday-Friday, from 9 AM – 2 PM
WHERE: Primarily at Salmon Creek Ravine in Burien (we meet at H Line bus stop 51552 near the intersection of SW 120th and Ambaum Blvd SW.). On three days, we’ll be at the Burien Community Center. On one day, we will start at the Shark Garden and bus to the White Center Food Bank.
BENEFITS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be comfortable being outdoors in various conditions for up to 5 hours
- Must be comfortable walking 1-3 miles across uneven terrain, bending and kneeling while performing repetitive movements during restoration activities, and lifting and transporting materials/tools

Interview Process:
- We will select approx. 40 applicants to move on to the interview round (June 29 – July 10). This will give us a chance to get to know each applicant a little better.
- The interview conversation will be held online, one-on-one, and conducted by an internship staff member.
- The entire interview will take approximately 30 minutes.
- There will be ~5 questions that only require very short answers, and ~5 questions will ask you to elaborate and share your thoughts.
