YMCA Camp Terry Tree Planting
The YMCA’s Camp Terry is situated along the Raging River, a salmon-bearing stream. The camp spans 10 acres and is a beautiful location for campers to learn about the natural world as they practice new skills and meet new friends each summer. The YMCA and the Greenway Trust have partnered to help restore Camp Terry. During the summer, volunteers helped remove invasive English ivy which crowds out native ferns, tree seedlings, and wildflowers. Now, volunteers will build on that good work to install native trees and shrubs that will help improve habitat for the Chinook salmon that call the Raging River home. There may also be invasive removal to accompany the native plantings. Thank you for signing up to volunteer!
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants made of sturdy material
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes
- Gloves (provided)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- Long sleeved shirt
- At least one full water bottle
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc…
