Event Overview
On its 25 year anniversary, the Middle Fork Gateway Bridge will be receiving a much-needed update: a new layer of decking will be installed this spring, and you can help! Thousands of Middle Fork recreationalists, on bike, foot, and horse, use the bridge each year to explore the scenic Middle Fork and Pratt River Valleys. After 25 years of use its time to replace the boot, wheel, and hoof-beaten top-decking. The United States Forest Service (USFS), Backcountry Horseman of Washington (BCHW), Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust (Greenway Trust), and several dedicated community members are joining together to carry out the repair. The initial work of fundraising and milling the decking planks is finished, so now it is time to make this vision a reality.  During the week of April 22 (Monday-Friday), local volunteers will work alongside the BCHW, Greenway Trust, and USFS to remove the old top-decking and install the new decking. If you’d like to join on Wednesday April 24, sign up here. No experience necessary, all training provided. There will be no cell reception at the Middle Fork Trailhead.
