Hope Creek, a tributary of Issaquah Creek, is critical for numerous salmonid species including Chinook, Coho, sockeye and kokanee salmon, and steelhead. The lack of native riparian vegetation and the continued encroachment of the weeds resulted in fragmented and inadequate stream buffers, increased temperatures and erosion, all limiting factors for salmonid species. Volunteers will join the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and the City of Issaquah to perform remove invasive plants and install native vegetation to enhance the riparian area, and help improve the health of the ecosystem.
