Trail Restoration at Pratt Bar
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
- Gloves
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
The Mountains to Sound Greenwat Trust is partnering with the Foothills Chapter of the Mountaineers on this private group volunteer event at Pratt Bar. Pratt Bar is a picturesque day-use area in the Middle Fork Valley. The short trail out to the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River provides access to a broad gravel bar with soaring views of surrounding mountains and the Valley. Prior to bridge and trail improvements, visitors were forced to cautiously make their way down a short but steep slope adjacent to the road, and tip-toe across a loose collection of paving stones across a stream. At this event, the Foothills volunteers will focus on trail side improvements to help get a handle on weed encroachment into the pristine Middle Fork Valley and to continue direct trail tread improvements.
The newest addition to the Pratt Bar Trail can be seen by a beautiful new bridge at it's start. The recent bridge development comes thanks to some creative repurposing of trees and an ‘only-in-the-Greenway’ type of collaboration between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the USDA Forest Service (USFS), the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust.
This is a private event. If you are part of the group, please register and sign the e-waiver (link in agenda e-mail) prior to the event.
