Granite Creek Connector Trail
Event Overview

Join us to help care for our beloved Washington trails!

The Granite Connector is a lovely, off-the-beaten path trail that begins near the Mailbox Peak Trailhead and connects to the Granite Creek Trail, which eventually climbs up into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area.

This trail can become quite overgrown. We will focus our work on brushing back encroaching vegetation and maintaining drains and drainage structures along the trail to keep this trail in good shape.

Difficulty
Moderate to Strenuous
Age Restriction
Ages 14 and up.
What to Bring

For safety, volunteers are required to wear:

  • Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
  • Gloves

In addition, we recommend that participants bring:

  • Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
  • Rain gear
  • Big sack lunch
  • Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
  • Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
Driving Directions

Google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/QPt81qBw4wt

From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 34 (Edgewick Road). Turn left (north) onto 468th Ave SE and follow it to the junction with the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road (Forest Road 56). Turn right and continue up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road for 3 miles to the Mailbox Peak Trailhead. We will walk together to the site. Look for Greenway signs and staff.

Additional Information
Originally built as a logging rail road and used by the Snoqualmie Falls Lumber Company as such from the early 1900s to the 1940s, this is now a hiker-only trail that links up to the newly completed Granite Creek Trail. This connector trail is a less utilized, but equally as beautiful, hike to the Granite Lakes and greater Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Totaling 2.8 miles to the connection with the Granite Creek Trail, with low elevation gain, this adds on a bit of mileage to your day hike adventure! Volunteers can expect to give this trail some much needed love and attention, with corridor brushing, slope stabilization and drainage projects!
