Benefits Kittitas County Search & Rescue! 5K Course Map and Elevation 10K Course Map and Elevation Half Marathon Course Map and Elevation 5K course description - Start on a gravel road for a short out and back to get you warmed up. Then up a steep rocky trail that will test your lungs and legs but will get you on top of a ridge with gorgeous views and the aid station. A trail around the solar panels and then cruise back down a gravel road to finish. A trail around the solar panels and then the downhill fun section begins. A short descent down a gravel road which will lead you to a smooth, downhill trail in a protected canyon and right next to the turbines. You will feel like you are flying! At the bottom you connect to a rolling gravel road section and your second aid station. What goes down must come back up! Up a smooth trail with a couple of rocky sections and round the corner to the finish line! You did it! About 20% on gravel road and 80% on single and double track trail. Half Marathon course description - Start on a gravel road for a short out and back to get you warmed up. Then up a steep rocky trail that will test your lungs and legs but will get you on top of a ridge with gorgeous views and your first aid station. Run along the top of the ridge with huge views all around, drop down to a smooth, fluffy downhill trail in a protected canyon which will rocket you past an old growth tree, bird feeding ponds and lots of downhill. You will feel like you are flying! At the bottom will be your second aid station and you connect to a rolling gravel road section, lots of ups and downs will keep it interesting. At the third aid station you will continue down even further on the pavement (about a mile and a half). Your fourth aid station starts a rolling, smooth trail section complete with fields of flowers and a salt lick for the local residents. Your last aid station before the final climb. What goes down must come back up! After some climbing you connect to a rolling gravel road section. Up a smooth trail with a couple of rocky sections and round the corner to the finish line! You did it! About 10% on pavement, 20% on gravel road and the rest on single and double track trail. Facility tours at 8:30am, 9:00am,11:30am, 12:00pm, 12:30pm and 2:00pm. Sign up at the front desk when you arrive. Guided flower/nature walk at 12:30pm Participants 21+ will get a free sampler of Iron Horse Brewery Beer! Additional beers can be purchased for $2 and proceeds benefit Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. Free 5 minute massages. Finish line food will include vegetarian chili, cheese, onions, sour cream, corn bread... Popsicles too! The Chance Brother's Band band will be playing for you as you finish! Parking will be limited, please consider carpooling. Events will be delayed up to one hour in case of sustained winds above 40MPH or in the case of lightning. If conditions do not improve after one hour the events will be canceled and a some form of refund will be communicated. Interested in volunteering?
