Washington State Parks and the Mountains to Sound Greenway are partnering together on the multi-year restoration of Lake Sammamish State Park. The State Park provides important habitat for several species of salmon, many birds – including bald eagles, great blue herons, and red tailed hawks – and a wide variety of amphibians, insects and other wildlife, making this a great spot not only for recreating but for wildlife viewing opportunities as well. In 2016, the Greenway and State Parks began work along Sunset Beach to create more diverse habitat and open up recreation along the lakeshore. Along the beach, volunteers will be contributing to the Greenway Trust's effort to reestablish native plant communities and prevent invasive species growth. Remember to sign the e-waiver online before the event (link in agenda e-mail). Also, we are now offering Discovery Pass vouchers for volunteers at all events in Lake Sammamish State Park -- 24 hours in a year qualifies you for a free pass! Ask us at the event for more information. |
