Join us to help care for our beloved Washington trails!

It you're looking for some time on Mailbox without the weekend crowds, this event is for you! We'll be working on Mailbox two days in a row. You're welcome to come for one or both events!

We will focus our work on brushing back encroaching vegetation and maintaining drains and drainage structures along the trail to keep this trail in good shape.

If you have any issues registering, please send an email to volunteer@mtsgreenway.org with the name and date of the event.

Ages 14 and up.
What to Bring

For safety, volunteers are required to wear:

  • Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
  • Gloves

In addition, we recommend that participants bring:

  • Warm layers, especially during the fall, winter, and spring
  • Rain gear
  • Big sack lunch
  • Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
  • Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
Driving Directions

In the summer: avoid the crowds and use Trailhead Direct to arrive to the Mailbox Peak parking lot. More details here: https://www.kingcounty.gov/~/media/elected/executive/constantine/news/graphics/2019/MailboxPeak.ashx?la=en

Take exit 34 from I-90. Head north on 468th Ave SE for approximately half a mile until the intersection with the SE Middle Fork Road. Turn right onto the Middle Fork Road. Follow SE Middle Fork Road 2.5 miles. Take the turnoff to the trailhead on the right and continue a short distance up the paved road to the paved parking lot with 40 spots and a vault toilet.

Additional Information
The new trail up Mailbox Peak was built by Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and  the WA State Department of Natural Resources to create a more sustainable and usable trail up to the peak. Since the opening, more and more users are able to access the beautiful views atop the peak. Greenway Trust volunteers are needed to help maintain this trail and to gather materials that remain from the time of the trails construction.  Make sure to sign up to help out today!
