Issaquah Creek Restoration Walking Tour
The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust recently completed its biggest restoration project yet, and one of the largest in Lake Sammamish State Park’s history! The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and Washington State Parks have worked together for more than 20 years to improve salmon habitat within Lake Sammamish State Park. You’ll see the results of these restoration efforts during a 1.5-mile walk along Issaquah Creek, and learn why native trees and vegetation are so critical to improving water quality and wildlife habitat. We've been working all summer to place more than 500 pieces of woody material into the creek via carefully engineered structures, reshape banks, reconnect a historic Oxbow, and more. Come see how the transformation is taking shape!
For safety, participants are required to wear:
- Long pants
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes that can get muddy
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Water
- Sunscreen
- Weather appropriate clothing
From I-90, take Exit 15. Follow signs for Lake Sammamish State Park, and go north on 17th Ave NW. Turn left onto NW Sammamish Rd. The entrance to Lake Sammamish State Park will be on your right in about one half mile. Continue straight toward Sunset Beach parking lot – look for Greenway event signs and staff.
Make sure to remember to display a Discover Pass on your vehicle or purchase one from the State Park office.
Join us before the walking tour to volunteer in our native plant nursery! https://mtsgreenway.org/event/nursery-event-at-lake-sammamish-state-park-35/
