Event Overview

Join the Greenway for our Annual Tree Planting Celebration this year at Lake Sammamish State Park! Plant trees and shrubs, meet others, and celebrate the beginning of planting season.

Volunteers will plant trees and shrubs along Issaquah Creek, helping to rebuild a healthy forest that supports wildlife and keeps water cooler for salmon. This event is great for families, individuals, groups, and work teams. No experience is necessary. All tools, instructions, and lunch will be provided!

Remember to bring your Greenway passports to get stamped and redeem giveaways.

Please note: the planting site is only accessible by stairway due to the bridge over Issaquah Creek being closed off for safety reasons. The stairs are about 1.5 flights and there are not nearby ways to get around. (add about railing?)

  • Noon - 1pm: Lunch and celebratory remarks

Additional Information
Washington State Parks and the Mountains to Sound Greenway are partnering together on the multi-year restoration of Lake Sammamish State Park. The State Park provides important habitat for several species of salmon, many birds – including bald eagles, great blue herons, and red tailed hawks – and a wide variety of amphibians, insects and other wildlife, making this a great spot not only for recreating but for wildlife viewing opportunities as well. For over ten years, volunteers have worked to reestablish native plant communities and to control invasive species populations.
