Do you enjoy our nearby trails and natural areas? Do you care about wildlife and want to see their habitats restored and protected? Do you believe in the power of connecting with nature and want to foster those connections for local youth? If you answered yes to any of these, we invite you to join our Spring Fundraising Breakfast where you can connect with other community members who care about these issues, learn how you can get involved, and meet Greenway team members who conserve and enhance local landscapes every day.

This annual event is our unofficial kickoff to summer and all of the fun ways you can get involved in the Greenway NHA over the coming months! Enjoy breakfast in the park, hear from inspiring speakers, and then head out on immersive experiences that will provide a behind-the-scenes look at our conservation mission in action.

Provide local students with career training and environmental education opportunities
Plant and nurture forests that reduce carbon emissions, improve water quality, and provide critical habitat for wildlife

Meet Our Speakers:

Sally Jewell served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 2013 to 2017, after over 40 years in business. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, she has advocated for balanced protection of public lands, long-term conservation of resources, and engaged communities and young people in shaping an equitable, economically successful, and environmentally sustainable future for all. Sally served as a founding board member of the Greenway Trust from 1991 to 2013 and is currently an emeritus board member.

Prithvi Dasan is a senior at Interlake High School in Bellevue and a former intern with the Youth Engaged in Sustainable Systems (YESS) Program, a summer internship program offered in partnership between the Greenway Trust, Pacific Education Institute, and local school districts. In the fall, Prithvi will be attending the University of Washington Seattle, where he plans to study microbiology on the pre-med track.

Waste Diversion

The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust is committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. As part of this commitment, we’ve partnered with Perennial Zero Waste to divert and eliminate waste at our annual Spring Breakfast events over the past four years.

Last year, we were able to prevent 631 single-use cups, 321 single-use plates, and 641 utensils from being wasted by using reusable glasses and dishes during this event. For more information, you can view the full summary here.
