Terry Wallgren

Terry Wallgren: 1946-2014

Terry Wallgren, Cle Elum community activist, banker, and Greenway Trust board member for more than two decades, passed away August 20th.

During his tenure on the Greenway Trust board, Wallgren led the effort to acquire the railroad right-of-way and build the Coal Mines Trail, a popular 5-mile recreational and commuter trail that connects the communities of Ronald, Roslyn and Cle Elum. This former Burlington Northern railway runs through ponderosa pine forests and past remnants of the region’s coal mining past, and will remain a wonderful, historic trail for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.

Wallgren was a dedicated community volunteer and Greenway supporter, and gave his time to the Kittitas Park and Recreation District founding and other community organizations. He was awarded a “Volunteer of the Year” award from the Cle Elum-Roslyn Chamber of Commerce in 2008. His legacy will also live on in a planned future trailhead for Iron Horse State Park in South Cle Elum, on land that was formerly part of his home.

We will miss you, Terry.
