Participants are encouraged to car pool or take public transit, as parking will be limited for this event. There are several events going on in the State Park this day, so be sure to follow signs for the Greenway Trust event!
Sammamish Cove is located in Issaquah. For this event volunteers will be parking in Lake Sammamish State Park, specifically in the Tibbet’s Beach parking area. From I-90, take Exit 15. Turn north on 17th Ave NW and follow signs for Lake Sammamish State Park. From 17th Ave NW, turn left onto NW Sammamish Rd. In about one half mile, turn right into the main entrance to Lake Sammamish State Park. Please park in the Tibbet’s Beach parking area, making the first left into the parking lot. Look for Greenway Event signs and staff in orange vests to direct you where to park and how to get to the project site.
Volunteers are encouraged to car pool to this exciting event. Volunteers will park in the Kitchen Shelter parking lot in Lake Sammamish State Park (remember to print your parking pass!), and follow Greenway event signs and leaders to the work site. We will be working at Sammamish Cove, a former dairy farm adjacent to Lake Sammamish State Park. It borders Tibbetts Creek, a salmon-bearing stream, to the Northeast. Boasting sweeping views of the Issaquah Alps, the area was overwhelmed by invasive weeds. But Greenway Trust volunteers have worked hard to remove these invasive weeds along the creek, and planted hundreds of trees to re-establish healthy forests where habitat matters most. Join us for this celebration as we plant native trees and shrubs, remove invasive blackberry, and build a new connector trail to improve park access.
Lunch for volunteers provided by Homegrown!
