Event Overview
Join us in caring for our public lands! This project will focus on removing encroaching vegetation on the short Mine Creek loop trail, river access trails, and picnic areas.

What to Expect:

We will have fun and work at our own pace during this 3-hour work party. Light-duty tasks will be available, and no prior experience necessary. This project is on flat terrain and requires minimal hiking, as most projects are within a quarter mile of the trailhead. Projects will involve using loppers to cut back brush and hand tools like mccleods and grub hoes to remove vines and other vegetation growing into the gravel trail.

8:45 to 9:00 AM: Check-in at the Mine Creek Day Use Area trailhead.

9:00 AM: Welcome, safety talks, project overview, and begin work!

12 PM: We will wrap up work in time to travel to Tanner Landing for lunch and celebration with volunteers from all six work sites. Please join us!

What to Bring

For safety, volunteers are required to wear:

  • Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
  • Gloves (provided by the Greenway Trust)

In addition, we recommend that participants bring:

  • Warm layers
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain gear
  • Snacks
  • Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
  • Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.
Driving Directions

From I-90 eastbound, take exit 34. Turn left onto 468th Ave SE. Turn right onto SE Middle Fork Rd, follow road for approx. 3 miles, continue straight (towards the right) at the fork. Follow this road for another 0.75 mile past Valley Camp. The site is on the left (north side of the road). Look for Greenway event signs and staff.

The Mine Creek Day Use Area, located near North Bend in King County, Washington, offers visitors a variety of recreational opportunities within the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Natural Resources Conservation Area. The site is easily accessible, with parking available near the trailheads.
