Event Overview
Join us in caring for our public lands! This project will include cleaning up picnic sites, picking up trash, and cutting back encroaching vegetation around the kiosk area, parking lot, and connector trails leaving from the Middle Fork Trailhead.

What to Expect:

We will have fun and work at our own pace during this 3-hour work party. Light-duty tasks will be available, and no prior experience necessary. This project is on flat terrain and requires minimal hiking, as most projects are within a quarter mile of the trailhead. The project will involve using loppers and handsaws to cut back vegetation.

8:45 to 9:00 AM: Check-in at the Middle Fork trailhead

9:00 AM: Welcome, safety talks, project overview, and begin work!

12 PM: We will wrap up work in time to travel to Tanner Landing in North Bend for lunch and celebration with volunteers from all six work sites. Please join us!

What to Bring

For safety, volunteers are required to wear:

  • Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
  • Gloves (provided by the Greenway Trust)

In addition, we recommend that participants bring:

  • Warm layers
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain gear
  • Big sack lunch
  • Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
  • Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.

There will be no cell reception at the Middle Fork Trailhead.

From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 34 (Edgewick Road). Turn left (north) onto 468th Ave SE and follow it to the junction with the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road (Forest Road 56). Turn right and continue up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road for 11.8 miles to the Middle Fork trailhead parking area on the right. Look for Greenway signs and staff.

Additional Information

The Middle Fork Trailhead is a popular starting point for hiking and outdoor recreation, located in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Valley in Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Renowned for its stunning natural beauty, the area features dense forests, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain views.

From the Middle Fork Trailhead one can set out on a number of trails leading to mountain peaks, hidden lakes, or old-growth forests. The Middle Fork Trail crosses a unique arched beam cable-hung bridge, meanders through mature second-growth forests interspersed with old-growth remnants, and extends into the upper Middle Fork Valley and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

There is a pit toilet at the trailhead.
