Denny Creek Trail Maintenance
Join us to help care for the Denny Creek Trail, a beloved trail in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness with easy access off I-90.
This project continues to build on work done last summer, upgrading rocky and eroding sections of trail by removing obstacles, adding rock steps, and cutting back brush encroaching on the trail.
This work party will be physically demanding, so come prepared to expend some energy. We will climb over 1500 feet and hike for 2.5 miles to reach our work, and ford Denny Creek, but your exertions will be worth it!
For safety, volunteers are required to wear:
- Long pants (we’ll be working with tools, so no shorts!)
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)
- Gloves (provided by the Greenway Trust)
In addition, we recommend that participants bring:
- Warm layers
- Sunscreen
- Rain gear
- Big sack lunch
- Water for the day (3 liters minimum)
- Small daypack for lunch, extra layers, etc.

From I-90 (eastbound), take exit 47 for Asahel Curtis/Denny Creek, turn left onto Asahel Curtis Rd/NF-55, turn right at the stop sign onto NF-9034, then turn left after the underpass onto NF-5800. Follow the road for 2.3 miles. Drive past the campground and follow the parking loop for the trailhead around to the terraced parking areas. We will meet in the parking area with the vault toilet. Look for Greenway signs and staff.
Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass for parking
