DESCRIPTION:A volunteer opportunity with Washington Trails Association: a day of work in the High Point Trail\, an integral part of the Tiger Mountain trail network. WTA is working with the Department of Natural Resources to maintain this heavily utilized area. \nAbout the Area\nTiger Mountain could be the most heavily trod upon 3\,000 foot hill in the U.S.\, since it is open to hikers\, horses\, and dogs\, with mountain bikes allowed on some trails. This has been a popular wooded peak\, as it is set in Issaquah’s backyard. About 60 miles of trails web the hill\, making loops ranging from a mile to a dozen miles\, and the upper trails provide some excellent views of Mount Rainier and the Puget Sound lowlands. \nWhat to Expect\nWe’ll have fun\, work hard and make a difference! No experience is necessary. \nProject Description\nOur project is to improve important drainage structures and to perform annual maintenance on the Highpoint trail. \nHiking Information\nOur hike to the project site is expected to be 1-3 miles roundtrip over steep terrain. \nSchedule\n8:30 AM: Be ready to sign in and meet the crew\, rain or shine\n8:35 AM: Gather for a safety briefing\, then hike to the project site\nMorning: Work at your own pace\, and take breaks throughout the day\n12:00 PM: Lunch on the trail\nAfternoon: Consider trying a new task before wrapping up the day’s work\n3:30 PM: Sign out after enjoying refreshments at the trailhead\nFor safety reasons\, arriving late or leaving early is not allowed. \nPlanning Information\nGet ready for a great day outside! \nWhat it Takes to Do This Work Party\nNo experience is necessary—just bring a great attitude for working with a team!
