SUMMARY:Wetland Restoration at Luther Burbank Park
DESCRIPTION:Join the Greenway Trust and the City of Mercer Island on Saturday\, October 23rd\, to celebrate the City of Mercer Island's Arbor Day by participating in restoring a wetland at Luther Burbank Park. \nLuther Burbank Park\, located on the north end of Mercer Island\, is 77 acres of open park area along Lake Washington managed by the City of Mercer Island. The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust is partnering with the City to restore a wetland area in the south end of the park. These wetlands are home to 135 species of birds\, 50 species of waterfowl\, raccoons\, beaver\, muskrats\, tree frogs and rabbit.  \nThis project is in partnership with the City of Mercer Island with funding from King County Waterworks funding allocated by Councilmember Balducci. In October\, the Greenway Trust is celebrating our long-term partnership with Carter Subaru\, whose support has assisted in the planting of over 200\,000 trees since 2008.
