SUMMARY:TPL Stewardship Day with MTSG 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and The Trust for Public Land (TPL) have expanded upon 30 years of partnership by launching the Jim Ellis Fund for Land Conservation. The fund will create an on-hand pool of resources that will ensure we can move quickly when opportunities arise to bring the highest-priority places across the Greenway into public ownership and ensure they can’t be gated off and lost forever. Learn more here.  \nJoin us for volunteer stewardship and a celebration of this partnership! \nVolunteers from the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and The Trust for Public Land will be sprucing up Preston Mill Park by pulling weeds\, spreading mulch\, and maintaining pathways at this newly-renovated King County Park. \nPreston and its surrounding areas in the Snoqualmie Valley have an ancient history. Long before the mill and town were established\, this land has been home to the Snoqualmie People\, who since time immemorial have hunted\, fished and lived in this land and continue to live in the valley to this day. \nIn the late 19th century\, European immigrants built a logging town at Preston\, first with a sawmill in Upper Preston that expanded to include a shingle mill at the current Preston Mill Park site. \nKing County Parks\, Jones and Jones Architects and Landscape Architects\, and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust have joined forces to build the first phase of a renovated park for community gathering and heritage preservation. The park complex is now named after civic leader Jim Ellis: https://mtsgreenway.org/blog/park-complex-in-preston-named-for-regional-conservation-hero-jim-ellis/
