SUMMARY:Teanaway Fall Fencework 2021
DESCRIPTION:What \nHelp the Greenway and WA Dept. of Natural Resources Staff take down cattle fencing before the snow flies! The wire fencing used to keep cattle out of campgrounds and sensitive habitat was designed to be set up in the spring\, and laid down before snow can damage it in the winter. We need hands for the takedown step! \nWhere \nThe Teanaway Community Forest demonstrates how conservation\, sustainable forestry and community partnership goals can be achieved. This beautiful 50\,241-acre landscape lies at the headwaters of the Yakima Basin watershed. The state purchased the land in 2013 with funding provided by the Legislature and established Washington’s first state-owned community forest. It is managed by the Dept. of Natural Resources\, the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife\, and an Advisory Committee of local community members. The forest contains nearly 400 miles of free-flowing streams and prime habitat for fish and wildlife. It has a history of grazing and timber harvests and offers unique recreation opportunities. \nVolunteer teams will help tackle fencing at three possible locations across the Community Forest. Due to group-size restrictions and COVID safety guidelines\, we must limit volunteers to 10 people per worksite. If you plan to register as part of a group\, please do so all at once to ensure everyone is able to participate at the same site! \nBessoli Field \nRegister \nHenry Field \nRegister \nWest Fork Teanaway Fencing Cleanup \nRegister \n  \n
