SUMMARY:Restoration at Luther Burbank
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are dedicated to Mercer Island's public spaces. The wonderful 35 parks\, over 400 acres of natural areas and more than 50 miles of trails offer many reasons for volunteers to want to give back to the area. Work to improve these areas continues on\, with removing invasive plants\, planting native trees and shrubs\, and improving trails. \nOne very special park is  Luther Burbank Park. Not only is it a great spot to recreate\, it is an important rest stop for many species of migratory birds and is home to at least one family of beavers. During the volunteer event\, we will be removing various invasive species such as blackberry\, ivy\, holly\, and more to ensure the survival of the native vegetation. Your work will make a big difference to this important wetland area!
