Trail Work

Trail Cutting ProblemsThere are over 300 miles of hiking trails in the Greenway--just on the west side of Snoqualmie Pass.  Trails are like roads and these trails see a lot of traffic.  If they aren't well-built and maintained they deteriorate rapidly.

Many of the trails in the Greenway weren't designed for the amount of use they have been getting.  Trail improvements help stop erosion, protecting both the trail and the surrounding natural areas.  Better structures and ditches keep the trail drier.  Widening, braiding, or "community" trails can be disguised to limit the impact and improve the hiker experience.

Building TurnpikeVolunteers are critically important in making sure these trails stay safe and open so we can enjoy the beauty of the Greenway.  Trail projects are fun and rewarding but it's important to be well-prepared.

Regional Trails

The Greenway also has an interconnected regional trail system that allows people to connect to urban areas.  The Greenway Trust is working behind-the-scenes to fill in the missing links to that trail system.
