Squak Valley North
Squak Valley Park North encompasses approximately 11 undeveloped acres at the southern edge of Issaquah. A restoration project is planned along Issaquah Creek, which would enhance stream, riparian and wetland habitats. Over the summer, an outside company will remove a Great
Depression-era levee from the park, construct a smaller levee farther from the creek and restore salmon habitat. The completed project should allow the creek to resume a more natural, meandering flow. Volunteers at Squak Valley North will complement the levee removal project by helping restore native streamside habitat.

"We had fun. We also learned about how the environment is like a chain where each link depends on each other. The fact that invasive blackberry plants could eventually affect salmon was fascinating to learn. Great job. You helped the volunteers feel important." - Anne D.
