Photo Contest TIMELINE

  • March 15 - Entries open
  • July 15 - Entries close
  • July 29 - Category winners announced and 30 images selected for traveling exhibition.
    • Winners and photographers whose images are chosen for exhibition will be notified by email on this date.
    • August 15 - Exhibition opening.

     

    SUBMISSIONS

    The deadline for submissions has lapsed. The contest is closed.

    Entry is free.

    Entries may only be submitted as digital files, online via the Mountains to Sound Greenway Photo Contest web site at mtsgreenway.org/photocontest

    Participants may submit a maximum of 2 photographs per Photo Contest Category

    Please submit printable digital files in JPEG or uncompressed TIFF format.

    To be considered for prizes and/or exhibition, photographers must register their name and contact information through the Greenway web site and agree to terms and conditions.

    The Mountains to Sound Greenway will print and frame images selected for exhibition, courtesy of Panda Lab Photographic Services. Following the exhibition, all prints will remain the property of the Mountains to Sound Greenway.

     

    ELIGIBILITY

    The contest is open to all.

    Submitted images must be the registered entrant's own original work. Photographs taken by spouse, family, friends, or anyone other than entrant are prohibited.

    Contestants acknowledge that they have the permission of any person(s) recognizable in any images to publicly display the image.

    Photographs must have been taken in the Mountains to Sound Greenway, as defined by the Greenway map, between March and July of 2011.

     

    USE OF IMAGES

    All entrants agree that any image they submit to the 2011 Mountains to SoundGreenway Photo Contest may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the Photo Contest and Traveling Exhibition. This use may include, but is not limited to, publication in printed materials, advertisements, electronic media, Internet, television, catalog, DVD, magazine, gallery shows, and online at websites including mtsgreenway.org. Any image used by the Mountains to Sound Greenway shall carry a credit line of the artist.

    Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.

     

    JURORS

    The Category winners, and overall winner, were selected by the following jury made up of gallery staff, city arts commission members and photographers who live and work in the Greenway.

    • Dana Drake is the co-owner of Panda Lab printing.

    • Jingyu Li is a highly regarded amateur photographer and a member of the Sammamish Arts Commission.

    • Ray Lapine is a retired news camera man who has channeled his talents into photography.

    • Amy Brockhaus is the Greenway Trust's Information Manager, and

    • Dave Schiefelbein, a nationally renowned photographer, who is our curator.

    The 30 photographs selected for the traveling exhibition will include the 6 category winners and 1 overall winner, and were compiled by Dave Schiefelbein.

     

    EXHIBITION AND PRIZES

    Six Category prizes of approximately $150 - $200 in value each, including:

    Seattle Paragliding tandem jump from Tiger Mountain

    • Fly-fishing lesson for a small group courtesy of Emerald Water Anglers

    • Complete Mountaineers Books hiking guide package

    • $150 worth of photographic printing services courtesy of MoonPhoto, Greenwood

    • Yakima River Float and Lunch package for 5 people courtesy of Rill Adventures

    • Local boutique wine selection courtesy of Small Lot Wine Co-op, Woodinville

    • $200 gift certificate from Glazer's Camera

    30 outstanding images to be selected for Traveling Exhibition to tour the Greenway
