Today the Cle Elum area is a thriving recreation destination to to its prime location at the foot of the Cascade Range.
The Coal Mines Trail follows an old abandoned mining railway easement from Cle Elum to the historic towns of Roslyn and Ronald. Along the way are several fascinating historic mining sites. You can enjoy the trail on foot, bicycles or horseback. Access to the trail is across the street and to the north.
