West Tiger Mountain/Tradition Plateau
Large forest landscapes along the south side of I-90 are Tiger Mountain. Most are forested state trust lands -working forests that earn revenue for public schools and county services -and bring jobs, timber, complex habitat, and recreation to the community. At the west end is West Tiger Mountain Natural Resource Conservation Area, where patches of remnant old-growth and varied younger forests support a variety of wildlife species. Both working and conserved forests are open for you to explore. For more information about West Tiger Mountain visit the Washington State Department of Natural Resources website.
The trailhead behind the kiosk can take you on a strenuous but gratifying hike up West Tiger Mountain or an easy walk around Tradition Lake. You can find additional information about the trail conditions at the Washington Trails Association website.
