The Re-Greening of Zorro Mountain: Erasing the Scars (pdf). This National Scenic Byways award to the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust in 2003 describes an innovative approach to how field crews and volunteers restored the face of Zorro mountain by removing logging roads and using biosolids compost, hay, grass seed and newly planted trees to stabilize the mountain slope.

A new book, Green Infrastructure – Linking Landscapes and Communities by Mark Benedict and Ed McMahon uses the Mountains to Sound Greenway to illustrate the book’s thesis: that an interconnected network of natural areas and open spaces is a key to environmental, social and economic health. Green Infrastructure is published by Island Press and sponsored by the national non-profit Conservation Fundand may be purchased from either organization.
