The Teanaway Community Forest Advisory Committee will meet Thursday to discuss the forest’s draft plan and next steps in the process.

The meeting runs from 3-8 p.m. Thursday in the Putnam Centennial Center in Cle Elum. All advisory committee meetings are open to the public.

The draft of the proposed management is available online at dnr.wa.gov/teanaway. Public comments are also available on the same website.

The next step is for the Teanaway Community Forest Management Plan to go through the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) process.

The State Environmental Policy Act requires that every state agency, city, county, port or special district go through a formal outreach process when making key decisions to ensure public involvement.

The Department of Natural Resources will facilitate the SEPA process on behalf of the Teanaway Community Forest Management Plan, according to a release from the Department of Natural Resource. The process will include a formal public input time period and meeting, which is expected to occur in April.
