NEW Shuttle Service to Ease Congestion at Busy, Popular North Bend Trailheads
Sunny, warm summer days bring hikers by the thousands to popular Snoqualmie Valley trails. And if it’s a weekend, parking can be extremely difficult along Mt. Si Road, buts starting this summer a creative collaboration may bring some congestion relief to local residents.
Millions of Washington residents will soon have another way to reach some of Washington’s most loved recreation destinations – with the help of a NEW summer shuttle.
The SnoValley Adventure Shuttle, a pilot summer program that launches June 6th, will help to ease congestion in the popular Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area.
The shuttle, run by Compass Outdoor Adventures, is a collaborative effort of the City of North Bend, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, and Washington Trails Association, with the goal of connecting people to recreation opportunities and local businesses.
The weekend shuttle will leave from a downtown North Bend park-and-ride located on North Bend Way across from the Pour House, and stop at popular hiking destinations along Mt Si Road, including the Little Si, Mount Si and Teneriffe trailheads.
Shuttle users will also get an additional incentive with ‘SnoValley Adventure Bucks,’ which will give discounts at a variety of North Bend and Snoqualmie merchants.
The shuttle’s schedule will also align with arrivals from King County Metro so hikers/climbers from Seattle and Issaquah can reach trailheads without ever getting in their car.
Partners hope to expand the shuttle’s reach as it gains popularity. Future destinations could include the Middle Fork Valley, Rattlesnake Lake, and a number of loop hike, bike, or kayak routes.
Round-trip tickets cost $5 per person, though transaction fees may apply. Shuttle users can pre-register online and drop-ins are welcome. Shuttle runs every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer.
