A better kind of green: Volunteers sought for Snoqualmie, North Bend park makeovers

Using heavy tools and gloved hands,  Americorps members Christa Schilling and Ron Delarmenta removed 'bad' evergreens to make room for native plants during a clean-up visit to Riverfront Park in North Bend on Thursday, Feb. 17.

Americorps, NCCC and Mountains to Sound Greenway crews spent several days last week cleaning up riverside property in North Bend, removing entangling, noxious weeds such as ivy and holly.

Residents can help restore the native environment in local parks; volunteer plantings are set for Saturday, Feb. 26, at Riverfront Park, and Saturday, March 5 and 12 at the Three Forks Natural Area and dog park in Snoqualmie. To learn more or volunteer, contact the Greenway at mtsgreenway.org or call (206) 812-0122
