First-ever March of the Vegetables parade is Saturday, March 25 in Duvall

There’s a new parade coming to Duvall. The March of the Vegetables is about building community, celebrating art, and of course, welcoming the vegetables back for another growing season.

 

There’s a new parade coming to Duvall. The March of the Vegetables, a parade for families, art lovers, and friends-of-farms, is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25 in downtown Duvall. Open to all, the parade is about building community, celebrating art, and of course, welcoming the vegetables back for another growing season.

The parade, inspired by the Procession of the Species in Olympia, features home-made art, some of which was created at various art classes held over the winter to prepare for the parade. The event be pedestrian-only, with people-powered floats, handmade costumes, local musicians, and marching bands.

Participants are welcome to arrive at 12:30 p.m., to create parade art, a vegetable balloon hat, or driftwood noise maker. Once adorned, everyone will gather at 3 p.m. on First Avenue (between NE Valley and Richardson Streets, to parade along the streets of Duvall. Following the parade, participants will congregate at Depot Park for live music, a beer garden, and planting activities for children.
