Discover Pass to be required in Teanaway
TEANAWAY — Starting Jan. 1, 2016, people will be required to display a Discover Pass in their vehicles when visiting the Teanaway Community Forest, according to a news release from the state.
Discover Pass funding provides support for recreation activities in the Teanaway and elsewhere across the state. The Washington State Legislature and governor created the Discover Pass in 2011 to offset steep reductions in general tax support for parks and other recreation lands and facilities operated by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington State Department of Transportation.
A day-use pass is $10 and an annual pass good for one year from the date of purchase is $30. The annual Discover Pass also is transferrable between two vehicles, but only can be used on one vehicle at a time.
The penalty for not having a Discover Pass and parking your vehicle in an area that requires one is $99.
Passes can be purchased online at wdfw.wa.gov/licensing and at some local businesses.
