Greenway Days is celebrated in more than 10 communities with over 25 events along the 100-mile Mountains to Sound Greenway. Just choose your destination! Click on a community below to see the events happening in celebration of the Mountains to Sound Greenway, or join in the Greenway Challenge, a summer-long scavenger hunt.

Wild Horse Wind & Solar Facility

Come visit Puget Sound Energy's unique renewable energy complex that harnesses both wind and sun power from 9:00am-5:30pm. Atop Whiskey Dick Mountain at an elevation of 3,500 feet, the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center allows visitors to explore the latest technologies in wind and solar power, and learn about Kittitas County. Roslyn

Roslyn's Northern Lights Festival

Escape to the mountains and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Emmy award-winning TV series Northern Exposure, filmed in historic Roslyn. Bring your family Saturday, starting at 2pm, to visit film locations and unique ethnic cemeteries, make family-friendly art, and hunt for treasures at the antique flea market. Additional activities include mead tasting at Vintage Vine (until 7pm), dining, live music, and watching Roslyn's Northern Lights Public Art installation under the night sky, designed by the UW Storefront Studio. Sunday, from 10am-2pm, you can shop at the first Sunday Market of the season, take a hike on the historic Coal Mines Trail, bird watch and continue your search for antiques. Join in a raffle for a "Northern Lights" quilt made especially for the event by Crazy Quilt Shop. Directions to downtown Roslyn.

Rattlesnake Ledge Trail Hike

Rattlesnake Ledge Hike

Join Issaquah Alps Trails Club hike leader Doug Simpson on this enjoyable 4-5 mile hike with 1,300 feet gain in elevation to the summit of Rattlesnake Ledge, where you'll enjoy one of the most spectacular vistas in the region. Wear hiking shoes/boots; bring water, food, day pack and appropriate clothing for the weather. Meet at the Issaquah Trails Center north of the Harvey Manning statue at 9:30am for a car shuttle to trailhead. No reservations required. All ages are welcome. Call Doug at 425-823-0747 for details. Waterfest! Festival of Water

Saturday, June 19th

Come celebrate the wonder of Earth's most precious molecule, water, and enjoy a splashy family day filled with activities, games, stories and demonstrations available from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center. All ages can participate in the following drop-in activities: natural lawn and rain gardening presentations, water lab activities and water conservation tips and tools. Take a van tour, available first-come-first-serve every hour from 10:30am-2:30pm, into the protected Cedar River Municipal Watershed to get a rare look at Cedar Falls, the source of drinking water for 1.4 million people. Iron Horse State Park Bike Ride

Saturday, June 19th

Iron Horse Bike Ride

Join ride leader Norm Tjaden on a 40 mile, gentle grade ride along the scenic John Wayne Pioneer Trail starting from the Rattlesnake Lake Trailhead.  The ride will have a pace set at 12-14 mph on off-road, railroad grade and include occasional regroups. Bring lunch and water for the entire day. Trail surface is mostly fine packed gravel; mountain bike or hybrid tires are recommended. Meet in the Rattlesnake Lake parking area at 10:15am for a 10:30am start. Riders will be responsible for their own minor mechanical repairs. Reservations are not required. Father's Day Walk

Sunday, June 20th

 

Celebrate Father's Day with your family by taking this 10K walk along the gravel Snoqualmie Valley Trail built on the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St Paul and Pacific Railroad.  Enjoy 3 hours of stunning views of Mount Si, Rattlesnake Mountain and the Snoqualmie River. Train Rides at the Northwest Railway Museum

Enjoy some time with Dad and experience early railroading on a vintage train ride to the top of Snoqualmie Falls. Visit the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie from 10:00am-5:00pm both days to learn about the history of railroading in the Pacific Northwest, see the Train Shed, and learn more about the developing Railway History Center. Crafts for Kids!

Join us at the beautiful, historic Meadowbrook Farm from 11:00am-3:00pm for an afternoon full of arts & crafts activities for kids. The day will consist of various activities for youth, including building, decorating and flying your own kite (while supplies last!), taking a guided nature walk, looking at animal bones up close, playing with bubbles, and more. Fall City to Rattlesnake Lake Bike Ride

Sunday, June 20th

Fall City Bike Ride

Join ride leader Don Martin on a 30 mile, beautiful and hilly ride from Fall City to Rattlesnake Lake to visit the Cedar River Watershed Education Center, have a food stop, and then return. Ride pace will be set at 12-14 mph, include occasional regroups and a map for each rider. Ride includes 6 miles of hard pack dirt trail; road bikes are OK. Riders responsible for minor mechanical repairs. Meet at 9:50am at the Fall City Community Park parking lot for a 10:00am start and wear an "Approved Bicycle Helmet." FISH Open House & Hatchery Tours

Learn about our watershed and the life of the salmon that swim its waters through hands-on exhibits, tours and a family-oriented open house at the historic hatchery. Grand Ridge Mine Hike

Saturday, June 19th

Gather at 10:00am at the Issaquah Train Depot for a brief presentation on the Grand Ridge mining operations industry. Following the presentation, hikers will either set off on foot or drive to a meeting place closer to the trailhead. The hike, led by a local historian, will last about 4 hours and cover approximately 3-5 miles over moderate terrain. Reservations required, call 425-392-3500. Cost is $2.00/participant. King County Executive Horse Council Trail Ride

Saturday, June 19th

*NEW EVENT*

Join fellow equestrians on a leisurely ride from 11:00am-3:00pm as you ride some of the greenest trails in Taylor Mountain Forest. Bring your horse, your camera and a lunch, and enjoy an afternoon in one of the Greenway's gems. Riders must supply their own horse and equipment. Horses should be experienced trail horses and be familiar with any obstacles encountered. We will have a pre-ride discussion about trail selection, pace and individual horse quirks. Downtown History Hike

Come enjoy a walk through the history of Issaquah, from the 1880s to present day. The hike will cover roughly 2 miles over easy terrain and last about 2 hours. Fenders on Front Street Car Show & Cruise

Sunday, June 20th Fenders on Front Street Old Car

Bring dad and the whole family to downtown Issaquah's Front Street, which will be hopping from 8:00am-3:00pm with hundreds of vintage and classic cars, street vendors and live performances with multiple DJs, and more. Trophies will be awarded at 2:00pm at the Triple-X Drive-in, followed by a cruise down Front Street to Sunset Ave and back.  Directions.

 

Tradition Plateau Loop Hike

Join Issaquah Alps Trails Club hike leader Steve Williams on this easy 3 mile hike with 200 feet gain in elevation in Tiger Mountain State Forest where you'll explore Tradition Lake, "the bus," the Big Tree, multiple swamps and wetlands. Wear hiking shoes/boots; bring water, food, day pack and appropriate clothing for the weather. Test your outdoor orienteering skills as you navigate South Bellevue's Eastgate Park. The course is suitable for all ages and takes about 1 hour to complete. Let's Go Fishing!

Let's Go Fishing dock

Enjoy one of the great all-American past-times - fishing! Students, ages 6 to 15 (with an adult), will receive instruction from Roger and Linda Urbaniak on effective fishing techniques, including how to tie up their own bait for trout and perch. Students will be encouraged to go onto the public docks at Luther Burbank Park to fish and will be provided with a fishing kit to take home. Come paddle in double sit-on-top kayaks (a small child can ride with two adults) from 1:00pm-3:00 pm at Luther Burbank Park. Kayak Academy will provide necessary safety equipment, including life jackets. Participants must be comfortable in the water and a participant waiver form must be filled out prior to participation. Geoteaming at Magnuson Park

Teams will be loaned a GPS unit, pocket PC and digital camera to help them find hidden caches along the trails at Magnuson Park. Register your team or yourself for this fun geocaching competition. Start times are 9am (FULL), 11am (FULL), 1pm (FULL), and 3pm (FULL). Hurry, space is limited! Directions (via Google Maps) or Directions (via Seattle State Parks website).
