Trek Talk...A walk in the woods and a party in the park

Leaving bikes behind, the Trekkers take to the trail on foot. Watch out for beautiful views and parties ahead!

After 3 days of biking through the Greenway, on Wednesday the Trekkers said good bye to their equestrian friends, left their bikes behind and began their journey almost anew on foot. Taking their first steps from Rattlesnake Lake and making their way to Snoqualmie Point Park, the Trekkers were joined by a large group of day hikers who came along for the day on July 6th.

Imagine a group of 100+ hikers in the woods! What a way to celebrate how important the Greenway is to this area. What a presence!

Arriving to Snoqualmie Point Park, tired feet got massaged and toes wiggled, free from the confines of hiking boots. As the Greenway staff organized a night of music and barbeque for participants and community members, hikers kicked back on the lawn and took in the amazing views of Mt. Si and the Snoqualmie valley. It was a warm and perfect summer evening. During the evening, the Greenway announced its intent to pursue a National Heritage Area designation by Congress- raising more awareness of this special area we call the Greenway. To round out the beautiful evening, Issaquah Singers, Dorian Blu and local rockers Rain Kings took the stage and provided a soundtrack to accompany the views of the park.

Yesterday, the Trekkers took to the trail again and made their way to Preston. They navigated the crossing of the Raging River- a great opportunity to cool the tired and hot feet- before getting ready to tap their toes and swing their partner at a square dance at the Preston Community Center last night.

Today marks the Trekkers descent into Issaquah. It's cloudy and cool but that makes for great hiking weather. Hopefully tonight the sun will prevail so the group can enjoy another sunny, warm and fun evening with the Fabulous Roof Shakers, a blues band that will perform at the Greenway Edition of Issaquah's famed Concerts on the Green music series on the lawn of the Issaquah Community Center. Come join us tonight for some booty-shakin' good times on the lawn. Show starts at 7 pm!
